Pastor Tim is Retiring From Westside
Please find below two letters we attempted to mail all Westsiders in the current Church Directory earlier this week.
August 9, 2017
To Westside Bible Church Members and Attendees,
This is to let you know that Pastor Tim Davis has tendered his letter of resignation and, as of October 31st, he will be retiring as the pastor of Westside Bible Church. With regret, the Board of Elders at Westside Bible Church accepted his decision to retire. We are grateful for the past 21 years that Tim and Susan ministered to us at Westside. The reasons for Tim’s retirement are listed in his letter, which is attached. We will be sad to see them leave but we are happy that God will continue to use them in the building of His Kingdom.
So, what does this mean for Westside? To continue, we will need to discern who our next pastor will be and we trust that God has prepared such a person to shepherd His congregation. To that end we will be in communication with the AGC Canada to seek their help in finding a new pastor. We will need to form a pastoral search team to help vet the potential candidates.
We don’t want you to lose heart but be encouraged. We believe that God was preparing all of us for this during Tim’s sabbatical. We see many capable people in our congregation and with God’s grace and His guiding we will use this time to grow and thrive.
After the Labour Day weekend, we will have a congregational meeting to discuss our path forward. Until then we encourage all of you to ask questions, pray and seek God’s guidance in your lives to show you how you can help build His Kingdom through what we are doing at Westside.
Yours in Christ,
Board of Elders at Westside Bible Church
July 12, 2017
Greetings in the name of our Lord, Jesus Christ.
I am writing to let you know that I will be retiring from my position as pastor at Westside Bible Church, effective October 31, 2017.
In recent months, I have increasingly sensed God’s leading to pursue and develop ministry to refugees and persecuted Christians. At the same time, I have also increasingly sensed Westside’s need for someone with different strengths than me to serve as pastor. Both of these things have moved me to make this decision.
Words cannot adequately describe what these past 21 years at Westside have meant to me, Susan and our entire family. When I look back to Tim Davis, version 1996, words also cannot describe what they have meant *for* me. I thank God for the way that he has used you, and others no longer at Westside, to shape me into Tim Davis, 2017. And in whatever way He has used me I give the glory to Him.
This is not a goodbye from us, as we have no plans to move away. After over 2 decades here in the Westshore our lives are interwoven in many ways that will continue. However, we will be away from Westside as you discern, enter, and take hold of the new season that God has for you under different pastoral leadership.
In the meantime, Susan and I will be continuing to lead and grow the Associated Gospel Church’s Refugee Sponsorship Initiative which involves helping our churches care for some of the most vulnerable people in the world. Also, by the grace of God, I will be serving persecuted Christians and refugees through Pakistan Evangelistic Ministries.
