We are saddened to learn of the passing of Henry Newcombe (Barb Lejeune's father) on Friday, August 20. We pray and trust that God will comfort Barb's mother, Ethel, the Lejeune family, and Barb's brother and sister.
A memorial service celebrating Henry's life will be held at Glad Tidings Church, 1800 Quadra Street, Victoria, at 2:00 pm, Friday, August 27, with time for tea and sharing to follow.

Those of you in touch with Norma Millar may know that she recently had a gathering to watch the 1995 BBC production of Pride and Prejudice. Karina Buikema and I were wishing that such a gathering had happened when Norma was still here. Then it occurred to me that I have the DVD set. Why not have our own party? Here are the details:

This year's summer splash at the Yokimas' is tomorrow after church. The weather forecast is for superb weather!
Plan to come on out and enjoy the food, fun and fellowship. There is an indoor pool so bring a swimsuit if you want to go swimming or just bring along a lawn chair to relax and enjoy the afternoon.
