Tomorrow (July 21) night's mid-week Bible study and prayer time is taking a format change so we can spend an evening at the church meeting/getting reacquainted with Terry and Carol Thompson.
Westside has supported Terry and Carol since they first went to the mission field. Today, Terry is the director of Gospel Mission of South America. If the name "Thompson" and "missionary" rings another bell for you it should. Terry and Carol are the parents of Dan Thompson - the same Dan and Liz Thompson that we support as missionaries in Chile.
We are looking forward to a wonderful evening with these two dedicated and faithful brothers and sisters in Christ. Please join us at 7:30pm tomorrow night for a time of blessing and refreshments. |

By now most of us have seen the news of the fire that took place early Sunday morning in one of of the buildings that is part of the Colwood Corner Mall Complex.
One of the businesses destroyed in the fire was ACME Locksmith where Westsiders and locksmiths John Tucker and Chris Vermes worked out of.
Please pray for John, Chris and Ian (a brother in Christ who owns ACME Locksmith) as each of these men and their families deal with the different consequences this fire brings to life.
To read more about the fire check out the Times Colonist at: http://www.timescolonist.com/news/Colwood+Plaza+fire+destroys+five+businesses/3119624/story.html |

Wow! What a wonderful 20th Anniversary weekend we just celebrated. It was great to catch up with each other and to remember together God's goodness and faithfulness over the past 20 years.
Soon we'll start putting all the pictures we took (and scans of the time capsule contents) here on the web site. If you have pictures you took that would like included please send them (as large as the originals are if you can) to webmaster@westsidefamily.org.
Because our church kids are in lots of the pictures, 20th Anniversary photos will only be available to people logged into the secure part of the church web site. So to view them you will need to first of all register a profile on the web site (http://www.westsidefamily.org/Create-an-account) and then send an e-mail to webmaster@westsidefamily.org and ask that your account be assigned to the secure access group. If you already have a membership on the church site but have not yet asked to be a part of that access group, now's the time to do so! |

With the digging up of the year 2000 time capsule, Westside's 20th Anniversary weekend is upon us!
We're looking forward to a great weekend of looking back on God's blessings over the past 20 years. The festivities get a start Saturday morning at 8:00am when men's breakfast meets again at Royal Roads Cafe. AGC President Bill Fietje (who is arrive in Victoria late Friday night) will be joining us.
Then later at noon on Saturday everyone is invited to the Rados farm at 1650 Charlton Road (no dogs please) for a potluck lunch barbecue and afternoon of fellowship, horse rides, chickens, rope swing, trampolining and generally hanging out. The meat and buns are provided so please bring a salad or a dessert.
On Sunday at 10:30am we're having our anniversary service with a number of special features - including (but not limited to) a good old fashion Westside mid-service smoke break (we'll explain then) and opening the year 2000 time capsule.
We hope you'll join us on this weekend of celebration and rejoicing. |

WMD! - it can stand for Westsiders Managing Debt or Westsiders Mauled by Debt.
Which best describes you?
In last Sunday's service I shared how Susan and I have been experiencing great relief and freedom from being mauled by our consumer debt.

We are happy to pass along the exciting news that Michelle Stewart had a baby girl yesterday afternoon at 2:40pm.
Michelle and baby are both doing well.
The baby, who has not yet been named, weighed 8 pounds, 7 ounces and was 21 inches long.
Michelle has been a wonderful part of our church family in the 6 months she has been at Westside - especially as a member of our youth group where she has made many friends. Michelle's aunt and uncle, Wendy and John Reaume, are adopting the baby and Michelle is heading back to Ontario on Saturday.
Because the baby came later than expected, there are no Sunday's left to say goodbye to Michelle before her departure, so Friday night (7:45) at youth group, Michelle and the baby will at the church. We invite all our teens and their parents to drop in at the church then to say goodbye. |

Please remember that tomorrow night, at 7:00pm, we will be having our annual Ministry Focus Meeting at the church building. This is an important time of looking back on God's faithfulness in 2009 and approving plans for 2010.
The 2010 Annual Report booklet was distributed through the church mailboxes on Sunday morning. It includes a number of reports by leaders of various ministry areas at the church as well as the 2009 financial statements and 2010 budget proposal. Please make the effort to read this report before the meeting in order to help things move along smoothly. If you did not get your copy on Sunday you can download the online version here.
And remember, everyone is welcome to come this meeting. Members are expected to attend. |
